Looking up, I saw Mr Chan walking in. Heard him complaining about how five minutes in the sun caused him to drip with perspiration. I smiled. There was an inline hockey course being conducted at NUS and sunny weather is good weather. I would really have loved to be there but I needed this holiday job. I wondered if Jill was there on my behalf. It took much persuasion on my part to get her to agree to wake up before noon—she was nocturnal and frequently partied to the wee hours of the morning. But she had promised me she’d go help out and I knew Jill would keep her word. The thing is, I wondered if she knew it was the 15th of June today and that she is supposed to be at NUS this very minute—it’s 10 am and the course is about to begin. Guess I’ll give her a call to make sure.
