The website I chose: www.hugo.com
A Brief Introduction Upon visiting the site, a question box appears inquiring after the country the visitor is from, and a list of countries are provided. These countries are linked to one of two sites featuring the Hugo Boss fragrances—Dark Blue and Hugo. A click on the countries Singapore or Germany will take one to the site featuring the fragrance, Dark Blue; while a click on the countries Italy or the United Kingdom will take one to a site featuring the fragrance, Hugo.
Presumably, the sites are for advertising purposes and this intention is very clearly conveyed. Both of the Hugo Boss sites are very appealing, in terms of audiovisuals. There is a good use of sound and animation, which undoubtedly are intended to attract and stay the visitor’s attention. Between the two sites, these effects however, are more evidently employed in the Dark Blue pages -- in the Dark Blue site a sound file plays and loops as soon as the main page is displayed, while the sound file in the Hugo site is played only when the visitor moves his/her cursor over certain links. In this analysis, I have chosen to look at the Dark Blue site.
